DPW ALERT: FALLEN BRANCHES PICK UP

...FROM DPW: ALERT...Although yard waste season does not officially start until April 3, GFL Environmental USA (GFL) will start LARGE BRUSH COLLECTION early to help dispose of fallen branches due to the March 8 windstorm. Follow the disposal directions below:

1.      LARGE BRANCHES: Place large branches at the curb following the LARGE BRUSH COLLECTION procedure  (http://mi-stclairshores.civicplus.com/DocumentCenter/View/2830).  LARGE BRUSH COLLECTION is available for disposal of large pieces of brush generated by non-commercial removal from a single-family residential property.  LARGE BRUSH is defined as: pieces of brush longer than 4 feet in length and no greater than 4 inches in diameter.  To ensure service: YOU MUST CALL GFL AT 1-866-772-8900 BY 4PM THE DAY BEFORE YOUR REGULAR SERVICE DAY (FRIDAY IF YOUR SERVICE DAY IS MONDAY).  MATERIALS NOT ALLOWED: No branches or limbs greater than 4 inches in diameter. No stumps, root or dirt balls.

2.  SMALL BRANCHES:  Bundle a small amount of small branches with rope, twin, or duct tape and place them next to your garbage can. GFL will dispose of them with the mixed solid waste.

3. Do NOT use paper compost bags or compost labeled cans for clean-up.  Branches placed in compost bags or yard waste labeled containers will not be picked up until April 3rd.

Call DPW at 586-445-5363 ext. 200 to report broken branches from City trees. DPW crews will remove them before they fall.
